Cultivating Systems Awareness with AI

Presented by: Lana Cook

Abstract: In an era defined by complexity and rapid change, systems awareness—a blend of systems thinking (understanding interconnections) and systems sensing (emotionally and somatically attuning to ourselves and our environment)—is an essential capacity for navigating uncertainty. This talk explores how technologies like AI can both help and hinder our ability to think and feel systemically. Drawing from recent educational initiatives at the intersection of AI, systems thinking, and sensing, the talk highlights how these tools can foster deeper awareness of our profound interconnectedness and empower learners’ agency within complex systems.
