Gabor Hollbeck

Gabor Hollbeck has a background in physics at ETH Zürich. His research is exploring the intersection of complexity science, opinion dynamics and AI capabilities. He is the project lead and founder of Electomate.com, fostering R&D in the field of AI4Democracy. He is also working on Diplomatica.ai, an AI-driven platform that simulates real-life conversations to build emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills. By bringing the research on these tools to MIT he is heading the Legacies for Our Future Pillar: Tools for Empathy and Rationality: Leveraging AI for Democracy and Self Awareness.

Most recently, he entered AI safety research by co-authoring a paper on LLM refusal composition analysis in IFT datasets (NeurIPS 2024). Additionally, he co-founded the ETH Alt Protein Project, a think tank focused on innovative, ethical approaches to sustainable alternative food production.

Through these ventures, Hollbeck combines expertise in AI technology and computational social science, working towards impactful solutions for some of humanity’s most pressing challenges: the preservation of democracy, AI safety, and climate change.
