
Olivia Macharis, a conflict resolution practitioner. Her work focuses on mediation, cross-border cooperation, and innovative approaches to peacemaking. She has supported the design and implementation of complex mediation processes in Syria and the broader Middle East and North Africa, working in programmatic and advisory roles. Previously with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), she developed new approaches to facilitate cross-border cooperation around shared environmental concerns. She has also worked with the Dialogue Advisory Group (DAG) and conducted policy research with Clingendael and the Issam Fares Institute at the American University of Beirut.
Her work maintains consistent attention to three levels of engagement: individual, organizational, and geopolitical. Alongside her institutional roles, Olivia has launched independent projects and consulted on mediation design and process architecture. She is currently developing a research initiative exploring diverse approaches to mediation and peacemaking. She holds an MSc in Negotiation from IESEG School of Management and an MSc in Business Economics from KU Leuven.
