Wonseok Yang (楊沅錫), Associate Professor in the Department of Sinographic Literatures at Korea University. He also serves as the Head of the department and Vice Director of the Institute for Sinographic Literatures and Philology. His research centers on premodern Korean classical studies, Korean philology, and Sinographic literatures, with a focus on how these traditions evolved within the broader East Asian context. His work Theories and Issues of Chinese Character Study in the Chosŏn Period (2018) provides an in-depth exploration of Chinese character studies in Korea during the Chosŏn period. Yang also serves as PI for multiple major projects funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea, including “A Study of Surveying and Analyzing the Research on Korean Studies in English-speaking Academia and Creating a Topographic Map of the Research in the Digital Environment” (2024-2027), “Creation of database on civil service examination documents & description of history of rhetoric and logic of examination literature in the Chosŏn period” (2019-2025).
